By Sarah Al-Motairi “Where are you? Where have you gone? Are you safe?” My father’s words echoed through the phone, stabbing me in my heart like a thousand knives. Leaving was the hardest decision I ever made. See, I don’t come from an abusive home. I don’t come from a home filled with oppression or anger. My childhood was filled with security and love and all things little girls need to grow into strong, passionate, independent women. “Baba, hear me out!” I said almost afraid to talk. My fear wasn’t a cold fear, accompanied with visions of anger and consequence.
